LoQ Color Recipe 5: Tahini Chocolate Mousse


Our first Mousse was the rich brown Georgia boot, a perfect warm medium tone –– the color is now available in ten styles. Here is a slight twist –– or swirl –– on the traditional chocolate mousse, with spirals of hulled sesame tahini. Inviting to the eye, with the richness of fall; LoQ Color Recipe, shade number five.


Recipe for Tahini Chocolate Mousse:

Chocolate Mousse Ingredients :

5 ounces of chopped bittersweet chocolate 

1 cup of cream 

1 tablespoon of confectioners' sugar 

1tsp. vanilla extract 

1 pinch of sea salt


Tahini Mousse Ingredients: 

¼ cup of tahini

⅔ cup of heavy cream

⅓ cup of crème fraîche 

½ cup of confectioners' sugar

 1 tsp. vanilla extract 

1 pinch of sea salt 


1. Using above chocolate mousse ingredients, mix together confectioners' sugar, salt, ¾ cup of cream, and vanilla until subtle peaks are formed. Transfer to a new bowl and refrigerate once finished. 

2. Using above tahini mousse ingredients, beat tahini, crème fraîche, vanilla, sugar, and salt until just combined.

3. Turn down the beater to a slow speed and gently begin to incorporate the ⅔ cup of heavy cream into the tahini portion. Refrigerate this mixture as well. 

4. Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate, carefully stirring until it is smooth. 

5. Take the chocolate off the heat and add the leftover ¼ cup of cream. Before whisking, let this stand for a minute or two.

6. Add the now chilled whipped cream in batches, creating folds of chocolate mousse.

7. Combine the tahini mousse and chocolate mousse, allowing a mix of distinct colors to remain. Separate servings into small bowls to chill for at least two hours. 

8. Top wth sea salt, cacao nibs, or roasted nuts before serving.
