Rituals + remedies for feet at home by Beatrice Valenzuela.

Our feet are such a vital part of our daily lives, and it can be rare that we get the chance to honor their importance. Feet can be the vessel that takes us where we want to go and choose to be, and they deserve a little extra love when the time allows. Being home this summer more than ever, I find myself spending whole days barefoot, or seamlessly switching into sandalias once my feet grow tired. 

This gentle foot scrub and soak are the perfect end to a day spent running around, or an ideal addition to a time devoted to relaxation. 

A Single Portion Soak

4 heaping tablespoons of Epson salts

1 tablespoon or large pinch of dried Chamomile blooms

2 tablespoon or large pinch of dried Lavender 

2 tablespoons or large pinch of dried aromatic Rose petals 

6 drops of your favorite perfume oil, we use ours

Dissolve salts in warm water, then add dried blooms, petals and perfume oil in a large bowl, or bath. 

The water temperature should be most pleasant to your liking.

A Single Portion Foot Scrub

3 tablespoons of Sugar

The juice of a small Lemon or half of a large Lemon

Mix scrub right before applying, or else the sugar will melt.

Allow yourself to sit back and soak your feet until the water cools. Then, mix 3 tablespoons of sugar with the juice of the lemon and rub in circles while massaging the bottoms of your feet. Focus on your heels especially, and the tops of your feet until the sugar melts into your skin. Once completed, wrap your feet with a hot hand towel. Allow feet to rest once more, then rinse with warm water.  Finish by giving yourself a massage with a few drops of our oil. 

Don’t be afraid to put on a cute pair of socks after, and let the feet truly rest. Your feet will be beautiful and ready to be shown off right after.
